This is a historic day of the festival in the true sense of the word. We will meet the great-grandmother of the modern cello from Italy! We will hear the authentic baroque cello and other period instruments rarely heard in Lithuania. Bruno Cocset, the world’s most famous maestro of Baroque cello performance, with his ensemble Les Basses Réunies, will be return to the festival for the third time in a row. This is a unique opportunity to be transported in a musical time machine back to the 16th and 17th centuries and to hear some of the earliest examples of the cello repertoire composed in Italy and Spain. Compositions by Diego Ortiz, Andrea Falconieri, Rocco Greco, Giovanni Bononcini, Salvatore Lanzetti and others, brought back to life in authentic sound under the vaults of the Chapel of St Francis of Assisi – can there be a more spectacular representation of European cultural history?

D. Ortiz, A. Falconieri, R. Greco, G. Bononcini, S. Lanzetti ir kt.

With Bruno COCSET, Bertrand CUILLER, Emmanuel JACQUES, Richard MYRON
