Klaipeda International Cello Festival

What?
The first Klaipeda International Cello festival, taking place between 1 and 7 May 2017, is a project of The Lithuanian Capital of Culture programme « Klaipeda – a warm-water port of culture 2017 ». It is initiated by The Concert Agency of Klaipeda Municipality Klaipeda Concert Hall.
Where?
It takes place in various venues and open spaces of Klaipeda.
When?
Commencing at the beginning of May in 2017 it promises an intense music and art week, filled with activities from breakfast until the late night-time.
Why?
Did you know that Klaipeda is the place where the first Lithuania’s professional cello school was established? According to historical facts, 1923 was the year when Klaipeda Music School opened the first cello performance specialisation in Lithuania, which was taught by German and Czech professors. Klaipeda seeks to nourish the professional cello school tradition and gather an open-minded community of prestigious foreign and Lithuanian musicians, young talented performers and music admirers.
